Science Café

Topic: Yucca Mountain Waste Repository. Monday, September 8th, 6:30pm at the Metro Coffeehouse, 1054 Broad Street Augusta, GA

Light snacks and some refreshments will be served- coffee drinks and alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Prizes will be given!

A Science Café will be held on Monday, September 8th at 6:30pm at the Metro Coffeehouse (1054 Broad Street) in Augusta. Our guest speaker will be Eric Knox, Associate Director for Systems Operations and External Relations in the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (DOE). He will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the policy and technical issues surrounding the Yucca Mountain waste repository. Science Cafes are informal environments where a technical topic is presented in order to facilitate discussion and interest in the community. This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required, however if you know you will be attending please let Elise Fox (elise.fox@srnl.doe.gov or 507-8560) know in order to ensure proper refreshments will be available.

September Tour and Meeting:

Cytec Langley Plant Tour: Monday, September 22nd at 6:30pm, 403 Carline Road Langley, SC

Space is limited to 25 people. Dinner will be served.

ACS-SR will be having a tour of the Cytec Langley plant on Monday, September 22nd at 6:30pm. The Cytec Langley plant is a manufacturer of both water and solvent based polymers that are used mainly in the printing, adhesives, and coatings industries. Space is limited to 25 people, so reserve yours early. Contact Elise Fox (elise.fox@srnl.doe.gov or 507-8560) by noon on Friday Sept 19. Long sleeves, long pants, and sensible shoes are required. If you have a hard hat and safety glasses available, please bring them.
